According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, negotiations between Barcelona and the 26-year-old have been ongoing for “several weeks” and all parties are confident a deal will be struck.

Barcelona are understood to consider Kounde as the best in the world in his position and want to give him a new deal that will reflect how valued he is by the club.
Man City are interested, however, with Pep Guardiola keen to sign the France international as a replacement for the now departed Kyle Walker.
The report adds that another unnamed ‘top club’ has also made an inquiry for the defender who made 53 appearances last season.
