Arsenal look to have beaten a string of clubs, including Liverpool to the signing of Salford striker Will Wright.

The 17-year-old had been the subject of interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool and Man City and reports stated that the Reds had offered £100,000 plus add-ons for Wright, who has made just four first-team appearances for the League Two club.

Now, however, as reported by The Athletic, Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign the teenager who scored more than 50 goals at all levels for Salford last season. Wright has also scored four goals in three pre-season games for the club, which will have only boosted his price this summer, as the Gunners were enticed even more to snap him up.

The Sun reports that Arsenal have submitted a bid worth £250,000 plus add-ons for Wright, more than double Liverpool’s offer as the North London side blow the Premier League champions’ bid out of the water.

The Gunners' pursuit is part of academy manager Per Mertesacker's bid to sign elite talent. The Club’s academy has pushed talent such as Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri and Miles Lewis-Skelly in recent years and Wright could be the next up-and-coming name under manager Mikel Arteta.
