After beating Italian giants Inter Milan in the Champions League, Liverpool have gone on to beat Brighton and Tottenham in what is an impressive run of form.
A win against bottom of the league Wolves, who are winless so far this season, could launch Slot’s side into the top four and above Chelsea.
Van de Ven was reckless
Slot first spoke on striker Alexander Isak who was confirmed to have had surgery after breaking his leg over the weekend which will leave him sidelined for 3-4 months.
"Yeah, (Isak's injury) was a reckless challenge. I've said a lot about the tackle of Xavi Simons, which for me was completely unintentional. I don't think you will ever get an injury out of a tackle like that.
"But the tackle of (Micky) Van de Ven, if you make a tackle like that 10 times, 10 times there is a chance the player gets a serious injury."
Ekitike can still improve
Isak will be replaced with Hugo Ekitike who has been Liverpool's best summer signing so far this season. The Frenchman has 8 goals in 16 Premier League appearances so far and is in the form of his life heading into the Wolves clash.
"He still needs to get stronger. But he's already become stronger. He is fast. He can score goals. He has great footwork and dribbling work. He has plenty in his locker.
"He has already adapted to the Premier League. The biggest he can do is to make sure he can become physically outstanding. That's where he is working on very hard. Same with him, he was very, very tired in the last few minutes of the Tottenham game.
"I see this more often but that might be because they hardly have any rest because we don't have so many chances to rotate and they fight every single time."
Team news
Finally, Slot was asked about team news and gave updates on several players as he aims to rotate his side once more in what is an easier game on paper for the champions.
On Jeremie Frimpong: "Jeremie at the weekend was on a maximum of 30 minutes because he's been out for quite long. He is able to start this weekend if I make that decision.
"Sometimes situations change and you might need to take a bit more risk compared to when everyone is available to get the best possible outcome in the upcoming two weeks. Why I took him off had nothing to do with injury."
A range of team news: "Conor Bradley will be 50-50. He is not training with us today or tomorrow. On Friday we will see where he exactly is and whether he can be in the squad for the weekend.
"Joe Gomez and Wataru Endo won't be available and Cody Gakpo is similar to Conor."
Finally, on Milos Kerkez's fitness: "I rested him during the week against Inter Milan. Even when I rested him during the week, I can see that he struggles to find the end of the game which is not a surprise to me. But it was happening.
"Let's see where everybody is because we have quite a lot of days between Tottenham and Wolves. I haven't made the line-up. I don't know what it will look like."
