Amorim beat out the likes of Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, Aston Villa’s Unai Emery and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola to win the award after turning the club around in October as they won all three league games against Liverpool, Brighton and Sunderland.
Speaking about his Manager of the Month award to TNT Sports at United's Carrington training ground, Amorim said:
"My feeling is that life can change really fast. We changed in the last four weeks in our team.
"The second thing is, this is not my award, it’s a team award, because they (the players) are the ones that play the game, and they did a very good job.
"They are working really hard, of course we have had some bad days during this season, but we are working really hard to overcome all the situations that we had last year, and still in this beginning of the season.
"And the final thing, and the most important thing, is that this is from last month, so it doesn’t matter. In football, we just need to win this one in the next month because it means that we are winning games."
The award is decided by a combination of supporters’ votes and a panel of experts, who clearly believed that the Portuguese head coach deserved such an honour after he silenced critics who believed he would be sacked back in September.
The last time a United manager lifted the award was Erik ten Hag in November 2023 which says a lot about the club’s downward spiral in recent years as Amorim ends the two-year streak of missing out the award. Amorim spoke more on receiving the award and praised his staff for their hard work behind the scenes, which many do not fully appreciate.
"I'm really happy," he told club media. "Not just for my staff, but also for my players.
"I think they deserve full credit for this award because, in the end, the manager that wins this kind of award is not the best team, but the team that performs maybe better during this month.
"So I just expect to win the next one because it is a sign we won football matches."
