Eddie Howe’s side have been trying to sign a new striker all summer having already been turned down by the likes of Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Benjamin Sesko.
Current number nine Isak, 25, is on strike at St James’ Park as he continues to try to secure a move to Premier League champions Liverpool.
Now, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle are in advanced talks with Stuttgart for Woltemade, 23.
The giant German striker was subject to interest from Bayern Munich earlier in the summer but Stuttgart were reluctant to sell to the Bavarians.
It’s understood that the player has already agreed personal terms with Newcastle with the deal between the two clubs at the final stages.
Newcastle will pay a reported fee of €80m plus add-ons for the striker, with his medical planned to be in England within the next 24 hours.
