The Swedish international, who joined Newcastle in a £60M move from La Liga side Real Sociedad in 2022, scored 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions last season. He has been linked to Liverpool for several weeks and now in the final hours of the transfer window he will join The Reds.
Liverpool have broken the English transfer record twice in this window, once for Florian Wirtz and now for Isak who will become the new frontman for manager Arne Slot who has been extremely busy this summer.
Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenburg confirmed that the deal has been completed and also revealed the fee involved which is more than what a lot of Premier League rivals have spent altogether this summer.
“BREAKING | Alexander #Isak, new striker for Liverpool. Medical done. Transfer fee confirmed: €145m without add-ons.”
The deal for the 25 year old eclipses the current British record of £115M which Chelsea paid Brighton for Moises Caicedo in 2023. In fact, the deal would be one of football's biggest deals if completed today as all eyes turn to Merseyside where both Isak and Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi are expected to sign.
