The 21-year-old England international has caught the eye of major clubs in recent years and with Palace boss Oliver Glasner and striker Jean-Philippe Mateta set to leave, Wharton is reportedly ready to depart as the club goes into crisis mode.
Reports have stated that Liverpool would be willing to submit an £80M for the young playmaker as they seek to improve their midfield which has lacked strength and defensive knowledge thiss season.
Journalist Nicolò Schira also offered an update on Wharton on Monday morning, stating that he is keen on making the switch to Merseyside.
“Adam #Wharton is getting closer to #Liverpool from #CrystalPalace.
“The midfielder has already given his availability to join #LFC with a 5-years contract.”
Wharton has impressed since arriving at Selhurst Park from boyhood club Blackburn Rovers in 2022 and is said to be at the top of manager Arne Slot’s transfer wishlist to turn his midfield around.
Liverpool have won 7 of their first 19 league games, drawn 6, and lost 6. They have also conceded 26 goals, more than any team in the current top four.
Slot’s side currently sit 4th in the Premier League, already more than 10 points behind leaders Arsenal as they now challenge for a top 4 spot.
Wharton would likely join a host ofd defensive signings for the Reds as they aim to find replacements for Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.
