Tottenham captain Cristian Romero admitted "it's a sad day" for the club following their 3-0 Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Spurs’ hopes of remaining in the Premier League took a huge dent as they lost a potential ‘six-pointer’ to fellow strugglers Forest.

The North London club are now just one point above the bottom three, with 18th placed West Ham losing 2-0 to Aston Villa.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Romero couldn’t hide his disappointment, saying: "The season is tough, especially in this moment. Another very bad (result) for us, another lose the game at home.

“The first thing is for the fans is thank you for today and every day as they stay with us. The situation is tough but most important thing is play like a final now. It is a bad season, obviously the first responsibility is with me."
