Ronaldo’s future has been under question for several months as he continues to find success in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star protested earlier this year over the club’s transfer strategy, leading to him skipping a number of games.
As the season comes to a close, Ronaldo has been linked with a move to the MLS where he could meet up with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, a player he is in constant competition with.
Speaking to FruityKing, Waddle believes Ronaldo would help the league improve its reputation as he is known worldwide.
“Major League Soccer would be a good move for Ronaldo.
“Wherever he goes, there's interest. I'm sure MLS will be interested after what Messi has done for the league. Ronaldo could kick it on even further, and that's what they need.
“They need to keep going to get the league noticed, and keep the biggest players going there to get those bigger TV contracts and make the league bigger so it attracts bigger players again, so I think it would be a great move.
“I think Ronaldo will have a lot of offers this summer depending on what he wants to do. He's not as straightforward of a personality as Lionel Messi so we'll see he's such a star that everybody is always talking about Ronaldo. Everybody in the world knows Ronaldo. Wherever he goes, it'll take that league to another level.”
Despite being 41 years old, Ronaldo is still at peak fitness as he prepares for the World Cup where he could be thinking about a switch of clubs once again.
