Tottenham's assistant coach Matt Wells is reportedly set to leave his role on Thomas Frank's coaching team and become the new manager of MLS side Colorado Rapids.

Wells, 37, was part of Ange Postecoglou’s staff at Spurs before Frank took over, keeping his role despite the managerial change.

According to The Athletic, Wells is set to take his first managerial role with MLS side Colorado Rapids following some positive talks.

It’s understood that the club have been encouraged by his background and believe he has the potential to be a top manager.

The report adds the club have interviewed a wide range of candidates both domestic and international following the departure of Chris Armas.
