The fallout from Inter Miami's clash with Seattle Sounders has continued. In addition to Sergio Busquets and Luis Suárez, who both went into meltdown near the end, teammate Messi also lost his rag.
According to Gordon, Messi allegedly had a heated verbal altercation with Seattle winger Pedro de la Vega: "Messi said something to him during the match.
"Remember when they argued? Messi said to him to his face, 'You'll never play for the national team as long as I'm here'. That actually happened.
"I find that disgusting," Gordon said on the Major League Journeymen podcast.
The person directly involved, however, immediately sought to clarify the matter, distancing himself from any controversy. The 24-year-old Argentine, who has yet to make his debut for the Albiceleste, insisted: "Messi is the best, he's a world champion, he's my idol.
"What happened was part of the game. I tried to stay focused and not take it personally."
