The 24-year-old has impressed since arriving from Venezia in 2024 and is expected to play an important role for the United States at the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
According to reports, Lyon rejected an approach from Atletico Madrid in January that would have reunited Tessmann with fellow USMNT midfielder Johnny Cardoso.
The midfielder has enjoyed a productive spell with Lyon, making 76 appearances across all competitions and featuring 41 times this season, including in the Europa League.
He scored twice during the campaign as Paulo Fonseca’smen secured a fourth-place Ligue 1 finish and qualification for the Champions League qualifying rounds.
Although he recently suffered a minor muscle injury, the issue is not expected to affect his World Cup participation.
