The news was first reported by zerozero, which revealed that Vitória SC will receive more than 10 million euros for the player, who came up through the Guimarães youth system.
Strasbourg, part of the BlueCo group that also owns Chelsea, competed with several other clubs to sign the Vitória SC player, but ultimately won the race and has already finalized the deal with the Guimarães side.
Diogo Sousa has spent over a decade at Vitória SC, where he developed as a player. This season, he established himself in the first team, making 29 appearances, scoring once, and providing one assist. He was also part of the squad that won the club’s first ever League Cup.
The French side currently sits 8th in Ligue 1 with 47 points and recently missed out on a place in the Conference League final after being knocked out in the semi-finals by Rayo Vallecano. The club also failed to reach the French Cup final, having been eliminated by Nice in April.
