Having not played since September 2023, it was AS Monaco who offered Pogba a way back into the beautiful game as he gets back on the training pitch with his new teammates which include former Reds playmaker Minamino.
Pogba has endured a challenging period marked by injuries and a lack of consistency after he was handed a four-year doping ban in February 2024. Now he is back and is fighting for a spot in Ligue 1.
Speaking to Sportiva, he admits he has been impressed with Minamino after joining the French side this summer and says players should learn from him and his discipline.
“Takumi is always the first one to arrive at training and the last to leave. I’ve never seen a player so disciplined yet enjoying football so much at the same time.
“That’s something I need to learn from him.
“When you watch him play, you can clearly see he’s always thinking on the pitch.
“He’s incredibly smart, and his movement shows just how deeply he understands the game.”
Minamino has made 105 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit to date, returning 21 goals and 17 assists after leaving Liverpool in an initial £12.9m deal in June 2022. Him and Pogba should prove to be a force to be reckoned with in Ligue 1 as the season ramps up.
