There was hope Pogba would make the matchday squad, but a calf strain has ruled him out.
Pocognoli said this morning, "Paul Pogba has a slight strain in a tendon in his knee."
As reported by Monaco-Matin, Pogba's knee is no longer a problem, but he is suffering from discomfort in his left calf, which occurred during the last training session of the week.
The Monaco staff didn't want to push him and therefore preferred to rest him. It's not a serious injury, but rather another minor setback, and these have been accumulating since his arrival in Monaco this summer, preventing him from playing regularly.
So far, he has only been able to participate in three matches for his new club: against Rennes on November 22nd (a 4-1 defeat), against PSG on November 29th (a 1-0 victory), and against Brest in early December (a 1-0 defeat), playing a total of 30 minutes.
