The Gunners are holding talks with Marseille over a move that would see Nwaneri join the French side until the end of the season as he aims to gain more minutes on the pitch, something Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta cannot offer him.
The 18-year-old midfielder will join Marseille, currently third in Ligue 1 behind PSG and leaders Lens, after they host Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Transfer expert David Ornstein provided an update on Wednesday afternoon, revealing that the teenager is set for his medical in what has been a fast moving story.
“Ethan Nwaneri travelling to France after Arsenal authorised 18yo to complete Marseille move.
“#AFC attacking midfielder will undergo medical & seal #OM loan until end of season (no buy option) + development fee determined by minutes played.”
Arteta's reportedly has a desire for Nwaneri to play under Marseille head coach, Roberto De Zerbi, who was one of the factors behind the deal being agreed during transfer talks.
Bournemouth, Borussia Dortmund, Crystal Palace and West Ham United have been linked with Nwaneri who will see Ligue 1 as a great chance to hone his talent alongside fellow England international Mason Greenwood who is loving life so far across the channel.
