De Zerbi’s side earned a hard fought 1-0 Ligue 1 win over PSG on Tuesday (September 23) after the game, which was originally set to be played the day before, was postponed due to severe weather.
It was a fifth minute Marqunhos own-goal that decided the game, but it wasn’t until just before the final whistle blew that De Zerbi, 46, saw red.
The Italian was initially shown a yellow card for his reaction to a tackle that he believed cross the line, but his inability to let it go saw him receive a second.
De Zerbi will now face a one-match ban that will see him miss their clash with fellow Champions League qualification hopefuls Strasbourg on Friday (September 26).
France’s LFP Disciplinary Committee released a statement saying: "One match suspension and one match suspended from the bench, referees' locker room and all official duties."
