The 38-year-old Frenchman scored again on Sunday and unfortunately missed a penalty as Lille snatched a 1-0 win over Monaco. Giroud controlled and slammed home a cross from Matias Fernandez-Pardo, putting his team aside with his 350th goal as a professional.
Giroud joined Lille this season after spending a year in Los Angeles and is already making big waves in Ligue 1 who have welcomed him with open arms. Asked about his latest milestone which further cements his name into history.
"It's great, it's cool. I hope to score more. I was also told that I'm not far from 900 matches. I'm not very good at stats, but if I can... I'm here to bring my efficiency, my experience, it's up to me to finish the good work of the guys. It's nice."
The marksman took only 11 minutes to score on his return to Ligue 1 in a 3-3 draw at Brest last week. His efficiency in front of goal is incredible and he continues to score despite preparing to turn 39 years old next month. The former Gunners forward will next feature in Lille's upcoming match against Lorient on August 30th as they hunt down European qualification once again under manager Bruno Génésio.
