Having been removed as Olympique Marseille president by owner Frank McCourt last month, Longoria is leaving France for Argentine football.

TyC Sports is reporting Longoria is in advanced talks with River Plate about becoming their new sporting director.

Indeed, it's claimed that an agreement has been reached and River Plate are now putting together a press release to confirm the deal.

The Spaniard arrives at the helm of an ambitious project, as River Plate recently secured a $100 million loan to improve its infrastructure, including its stadium and training centre.

At 39, Longoria has proved himself one of football's major powerbrokers, holding roles with OM, Newcastle, Juventus, Atalanta and Valencia.
