Sporting officially announced this Tuesday the departure of the Japanese international Hidemasa Morita, who leaves Alvalade on a free transfer after his contract with the Lions expires at the end of June.

The player himself had already announced his definitive farewell to Sporting, which earned him a send-off at the Estádio de Alvalade in the match against Gil Vicente, which closed out the Liga Portugal season.

After starting in the final of the Taça de Portugal, which Sporting lost to Torreense, the Japanese midfielder will no longer wear the Lions shirt.

During his time with the green and white side, the former Santa Clara player made 166 appearances, scored 11 goals, and provided 17 assists.

In Portugal, he won three titles—two league championships and one Taça de Portugal—all with Sporting.

The 31-year-old midfielder is reportedly on his way to the Premier League to join Leeds United.
