The veteran defender is leaving the Liga MX club to return to Europe. Ramos aims to join a club which will give him a chance of making Spain's World Cup squad.
Ramos stated this morning: "Saying goodbye is never easy. A chapter that began in February with so much hope is now over, a chapter that allowed me to discover a country, a city, a style of football... and that leaves me with so many new experiences and, above all, so many friends.
"I will forever be proud of having worn the captain's armband, of having led the team to the first Club World Cup in the new format, of having fought in the Clausura, Apertura, Leagues Cup, and Concacaf Champions Cup, and of having courageously defended the Estadio BBVA Bancomer in every home game. I gave my all, on and off the pitch, to perform at my best: 34 games, over 3,000 minutes, 8 goals, and countless emotions.
"I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the affection shown from the very first moment. I will always carry this period of my career with me and will proudly say: Arriba el Monterrey!
