Manchester United have reached an agreement for Royal Antwerp for goalkeeper Senne Lammens in a deadline day move.

Lammens has travelled to England ahead of a potential deadline day move to United who are hoping to end their goalkeeping woes which has seen Andre Onana and Altay Bayındır fail to impress under manager Ruben Amorim whose defence has looked dire so far this season.

United have also made inquiries over Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez as a contingency as his future with the club looks to be fragile. However, Lammens is Amorim’s first priority and The Athletic journalist David Ornstein reports that the deal is agreed.

“EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United reach total agreement with Royal Antwerp to sign Senne Lammens. Deal for 23yo #RoyalAntwerp goalkeeper worth €21m + add-ons. No sell-on. 5yr terms. Belgium int’l flying in to complete #MUFC #DeadlineDay move.”

Onana returned from injury during midweek and was at fault for two goals in the infamous defeat to League Two club Grimsby Town. Meanwhile, Bayindir was guilty of an error in the 3-2 win over Burnley that only pushed Amorim to make the Lammens deal happen.

The 23-year-old, who joined Royal Antwerp from Club Brugge in the summer of 2023, made four appearances in 2025/26, conceding in each game. He is a very young goalkeeper and if he were to take the spot between the sticks it would be a lot of pressure for a player who has zero Premier League experience.
