At just 19 years old, Irow scored five goals in 12 appearances for Tottenham’s Under-21s side under manager Wayne Burnett, which caught the eye of Mansfield as the January window opened.
Manfield announced the signing of Irow on Thursday afternoon as he joins manager Nigel Clough who has been in charge of the side for 6 years. Irow spoke on the move which he says happened due to Clough’s persuasion.
“I was really excited when I heard that the club was interested and was really looking forward to signing.
“It was good to speak to the manager and his staff, and I was attracted by the forward-thinking, goal scoring team that the manager said they are. He (Nigel Clough) said the team is very together, I liked that – it attracted me.
“I’ve been there (at Tottenham) since the age of eight but I was looking forward to getting out and hopefully join a men’s team which is where I am now so it’s going to be a new challenge.
“Hopefully I can make a big impact straight away, which is what I’m looking to do.”
Mansfield sit 11th in League One and face Sheffield United in the FA Cup this weekend, where Irow could be handed his first minutes under Clough.
