Over two spells as Real coach, Zidane proved himself one of the club's successful in their history.
Speaking on the YouTube channel of Hamidou Msaidie, Zidane said: "At Real Madrid, we were completely at the players' disposal. For me, this is precisely what creates a strong team: being there for the player.
"If you don't understand this, you can't last in this profession. We are there to support them; you have to show them concretely that you are there for them."
Zidane also said: "For the locker room to embrace your ideas and what you want to implement, it's essential that the players respect you. If there's no harmony on everything you propose, from training to every other decision, something will always be missing. With us, I think they really enjoyed their time at every level.
"We instilled a lot of confidence in the group: they were coming off a difficult period and needed to regain their self-esteem, fitness, everything. We created a structure that allowed them to regain these confidences. When a player is competitive, happy to train and take to the pitch, winning three Champions Leagues becomes a natural consequence."
