Xabi also defended Vinicius Jr, who saw Allan Nyom sent off for Getafe after being on the pitch for 37 seconds. Kylian Mbappe struck the only goal of the game on 80 minutes - three minutes after Nyom's red card.
Xabi said afterwards: "Coming to Getafe isn't easy. You have to know how to compete and put your best foot forward. You also have to know that it might not be the most beautiful match.
"We were focused and doing what we had to do. We had to roll up our sleeves because we knew it wasn't going to be the most spectacular match, and that's what it turned out to be. It's a victory that allows us to start the week with very good energy."
On Vini Jr, he said: "Well, yes, he had a good impact on the match. The cards he drew, the substitutions... All of that gave us an advantage that we took advantage of. It's a good example that everyone is important."
Asked if they're over-reliant on Mbappe, Xabi added: "I wouldn't say so. I'd say we're very happy with him. He's been decisive with his goals and his involvement. But there are many other things behind his goals. They're all important."
