Former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has revealed that he will motivate Kylian Mbappe ahead of the El Clasico this Sunday.

Both Madrid and Barcelona are looking to make a statement at the Bernabeu with the two sides separated by just two points in La Liga. They will meet for the 262nd time on Sunday afternoon in what should be another thrilling affair.

Ramos, who played in the famous fixture 43 times during his incredible career with Madrid, has spoken ahead of the tie and revealed that he could help the La Liga top scorer Mbappe before the tie.

"You know very well that I am a Real Madrid until death and I hope that Madrid wins, that my brother 'Kyky' plays a good game.

“I will motivate him. I often speak with him, he is at the top level, I hope he will have a great match and that the three points will stay at home."

Los Blancos have not beaten Barcelona since a 3-2 home victory 18 months ago, but with Mbappe on an eight-game scoring run for manager Xabi Alonso, he could be the difference maker this weekend.

Alonso was full of praise for the Frenchman ahead of their Champions League clash with Juventus this week, admitting how vital he is to his team’s success after his best ever start to a season.

"Not just the goals. His positive influence on the team is almost as important as his teammates following him with and without the ball. He helps us control games.

“He's always going to score goals. He's done it everywhere. His vital and personal moment is very good.

“He's very analytical and intelligent, he does things for reasons, everything fits together in his head now, and that's why he's doing so well."
