Antonio Rudiger has accepted a new contract offer from Real Madrid.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that Rudiger has reached a "verbal agreement" with Real and his new deal is valid until June 2027.

The German defender was due to leave Los Blancos once his current contract expired at the end of next month, but that possibility has been thwarted after agreeing terms for at least one more campaign.

Rudiger only made 18 LaLiga appearances in 2025/26 due to injury problems and inconsistent performances. However, with Jose Mourinho's return on the horizon, perhaps the Portuguese tactician can get the best out of him once more.

The 82-cap Germany international is part of a fractured Real dressing room that turned on Alvaro Arbeloa, and has been involved in a physical altercation with teammate Alvaro Carreras.

Luckily, it appears those issues have been put behind them, and with a new chapter waiting to start under Mourinho, the 33-year-old will want to get back to his best.
