For the moment, Jon Ansetogi has been named as caretaker coach ahead of the coming week. La Real face Elda in the Copa del Rey in midweek before meeting Levante in LaLiga next weekend.
Marca says former Bologna and Juventus coach Motta features on the shortlist of candidates for the job, which also includes Pellegrino Matarazzo.
Motta is available after being axed by Juve last season.
