Isco was arguably the best young player on the planet when he joined Real Madrid from Malaga back in the summer of 2013.
Unfortunately, he didn’t quite live up to the hype, despite the fact he made 353 appearacnes for the club, winning five Champions League titles, and three La Ligas along the way.
Now 33-years-old, the attacking midfielder is with Real Betis and he’s looking back on his time in the Spanish capital and his relationship with former manager Santiago Solari.
Speaking in an interview with France Football, Isco said: “Some coaches value you more than others, that's football. After a while, everything became more complicated for me in Madrid.
“When you're not in good shape mentally, it shows in your game. I was going through a rough patch, both sportingly and personally. I didn't know how to recover. The only person responsible for my failure is me.”
