Ahead of Atletico's massive Copa del Rey semifinal clash with Barca next week, Argentine journalist Hugo Balassone said on Radio La Red that "my information is that Julián Álvarez is going to play for Barcelona.
"There was interest from Arsenal, his time at Atlético de Madrid is over."
Balassone also stated, "He believes his career needs a team that can give him a title. Julián Álvarez's motivation is to go to a team that can be champion. It's true that Atlético can win the Copa del Rey, but it hasn't been the step he expected."
When asked about the transfer fee, Balassone explained that it would be "around 70 million (euros) or so."
