Huijsen, who joined Real Madrid this season from Bournemouth, has been enjoying life in Spain under manager Xabi Alonso who has been helping adapts after leaving the Premier League.
However, just as his Madrid career is getting underway, the young defender has pulled out of the Spain squad after suffering an injury this week. This was confirmed by journalist Fabrizio Romano, who revealed the bad news.
“Real Madrid confirm Dean Huijsen has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the soleus muscle of his left leg.
“Club staff expect the defender to be out for maximum 2 weeks.”
Despite such an injury, the 20-year-old could be ready for El Clásico against FC Barcelona on October 26th as he rests and recovers from muscle fatigue that comes after a busy summer at the Club World Cup.
Real Madrid released a short statement on the issue on Wednesday afternoon, confirming that the player will need further rest.
“Following tests carried out on our player, Dean Huijsen, today and assessed by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to the soleus muscle in his left leg. Further updates will follow.”
