The founder of the Kings League connected with MBA students during two sessions focused on a new case study analyzing the Kings League’s business model and its remarkable growth.

To mark the release of the case study, Gerard Piqué was invited to teach two classes in Harvard’s prestigious MBA program in Boston, joining a select group of international sports figures who have participated in the institution’s academic program.

The case, developed by Professor Anita Elberse, one of the world’s leading experts in the entertainment industry, media, and sports, together with associate researcher David Moreno, examines how the Kings League has managed to reinvent football for new audiences. The study delves into the role of teams led by content creators, the digital-first approach that has driven the competition, and the innovative game mechanics that have captivated millions of young people worldwide.

The publication coincides with the third anniversary of the Kings League, celebrated on November 10, and comes after a record-breaking October: over 2 billion impressions, 1.3 billion views, and 2.5 million new followers on social media.

"It’s an honor for the Kings League to be analyzed by such a respected institution as Harvard Business School," said Piqué. "Our goal has been to reinvent football for a new generation, and we are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved in just three years. The HBS case study validates the impact of our work."

The sessions at Harvard, part of the renowned 'Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports' course led by Professor Elberse, focused on how the Kings League has become one of the most influential sports entertainment products today. Its success is built on a unique combination of elite competition, social media-native storytelling, and a strong connection with its fan community.

During his talk with the students, Piqué shared the keys to the league’s explosive growth, the reasoning behind its innovative rules, and plans for global expansion. His visit also marked a return to Harvard Business School, where he previously completed the executive program 'Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports.'

"We are absolutely delighted to welcome Gerard back to Harvard Business School," said Professor Elberse. "What he and his team at Kings League have accomplished in just three years is spectacular. Without a doubt, he is among the elite entrepreneurs redefining the sports industry today."

Since its debut in Spain in 2023, the Kings League has expanded its model to several continents, with editions in Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, MENA, and Mexico, as well as the Queens League women’s leagues in Mexico and Spain, and two annual international competitions: Kings World Cup Clubs and Kings World Cup Nations.

This recognition from Harvard Business School cements the Kings League as one of the most innovative and fastest-growing sports properties worldwide.
