Lamine Yamal and Torres put their side 2-0 up after 11 minutes, with winger Rafa Mir getting one back for the visitors just before half time.
On loan star Marcus Rashord rounded off the scoring and continued his own fine form with a lovely curling effort to secure all three points for the Catalan club.
Speaking to DAZN after the game, Torres hailed his side’s 'spirit and intensity', saying: "It was important to come out strong and intense, take the lead and play the game we want.
"We already knew the game Elche were going to play against us. We started very well, then we became complacent, but we found our spirit and intensity.
"I think we are finding the Barca of last season, who ate the grass from the first minute."
