Calderon has slammed Real president Florentino over the dismissal of coach Xabi Alonso.
Xabi was sacked on Monday after Saturday's Spanish Super Cup final defeat to Barcelona in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Calderon, speaking before last night's Copa del Rey round 16 defeat at Albacete under new coach Alvaro Arbeloa, told Stats Perform: "They could have drawn or even won easily.
"The performance wasn't bad. However, in the end, it seems like it was the president's decision to fire him."
He continued: "There is no sporting director or real sports or football consultancy structure at Real Madrid. Therefore, the president is the one who makes the decisions and overrides them as he pleases.
"From my point of view, the team's planning may not have been optimal, because the midfield obviously suffered after the departures of Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos.
"If I were Florentino, I would have asked the sporting director why he and his team were responsible for sporting decisions. They are the ones who know, or knew, how things work."
