Joseph, 21, has made 73 first team appearances for the Whites and contributed towards Daniel Farke’s side being crowned champions last season.
Farke was reluctant to lose the youngster, but Joseph was eager to return home to Spain.
For the moment, there has been no announcement regarding a permanent option being part of the loan deal.
