Earlier this month, the young defender defended Vinicius after the press latched on to his comments stating that he may leave the club in the near future.
“The press writes a lot, and you’ve made a huge fuss over something that wasn’t such a big deal. He apologised, which I think is fair. These things happen in football.”
Now, the 20-year-old Madrid centre-back has opened up on the Spanish media and their treatment of top stars which he says has become too harsh and too overblown.
“Lamine is a normal kid, he’s 18 years old. Sometimes things get blown out of proportion. The same goes for Vinícius: he’s an incredible player and a really good guy, but when he does the smallest thing he gets criticised too much.
"He (Vinicius) is an incredible guy, really good person. He's such a big player that when he does the slightest thing, you guys kill him. I think you Criticise him too much, many times excessively, it's UNNECESSARY.
“All the cameras are on him, and if you focus on someone with a camera for the 90 minutes of a match, you're bound to see something. If you focused on me, you'd see it too, or on Militao, Asensio. You'd see something from everyone.”
“If we deserve criticism, then criticise us, but many times it goes too far.”
When asked about the criticism he faces as a Madrid defender, Huijsen shrugged off the attention and revealed how he relaxes at home.
“Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world, it’s normal that there’s so much talk. I don’t read the press. I live my normal life, I go to training, I go home, and that’s it... I don't have a girlfriend.
“I only post football-related things on social media. Playing PlayStation is what relaxes me the most."
Huijsen feels he is settling in well to life at Real Madrid as he spoke earlier this month about adapting to life in Madrid which is much different to Bournemouth.
“It’s a dream come true. I wanted to play for the best team in the world. I think I fit well with Xabi’s vision and the club’s plan. I’m very happy to be here.”
