Guiu left Barca for Chelsea last year, choosing to walk out when off contract.
Back with Spain U21s this week, Guiu told TV3: "Honestly, I could have played a bit more, but you could tell the club had other plans. (Robert) Lewandowski was there, and they had just signed Vitor Roque. It was clear I didn't belong there."
Guiu felt his situation wasn't helped by Xavi's departure and Flick's arrival as the former coach's replacement.
He continued: "The only time I spoke to Hansi Flick, he just said that he wished me luck.
"I would have liked the coach to call me, but that didn't happen. I finally understood that the situation was not good for me and decided to leave."
