Cancelo was bounced out of City by Guardiola midway through the 2022/23 season and shipped on-loan to Bayern Munich. The relationship since then has never recovered.
On-loan at Barca from Al-Hilal, Cancelo recalled to Canal 11: “I was coming back from the World Cup in 2022, and the manager and I had a heated argument.
"He didn't want me there anymore, so I decided to go to Bayern and I haven't regretted it since. He told me, 'I'm not happy with you in training,' and that he wasn't counting on me anymore.
"I thought it was unfair, and I still do."
Cancelo had better words, however, for Benfica coach Jose Mourinho.
He stated: “Mourinho is a key figure in Portuguese football. He won the Champions League with Porto in 2004 and with Inter in 2010. Two teams that weren't considered favorites to win the Champions League.
"He's a coach with an enviable track record. I'd like him to coach me."
