The Spain midfielder has been struggling since suffering a serious knee injury last summer.
Laporta said, "Gavi's return is excellent news. We were all waiting for it at the club, as were all Barça supporters. I followed his recovery closely.
"I was by his side during some difficult times. After a period of convalescence, he suffered a relapse, and now it's time to look to the future.
“He suffered and cried. When our players, whom we consider treasures, get injured, it’s a very difficult time when it feels like the world is collapsing around you.
"“He was supported by specialists, the coach, his teammates, his family, the doctors… Gavi is very determined; he would have played even on crutches.
"He loves football and is a fervent Barça supporter. We are very happy because he has resumed training with the group, and we can already see that he is close to returning.”
