Benzema admits hearing that his former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane could succeed Didier Deschamps with France has given him some hope of a Les Bleus recall.
He told AS: "I think he (Zidane) has everything it takes. He proved it at Real Madrid. There's another coach now, but I think Zidane is the number one.
"The national team is a bit far away, but you never know. I'm focused on what I have now."
Indeed, on the Saudi Pro League, Benzema continued: "When I signed, I had just won the Ballon d'Or that season. It wasn't the end of my career; I wanted to play and continue enjoying playing football. I feel very good at this club.
"The fans are fantastic and the guys want to work hard too. These are things I really appreciate every day."
He also said: "Saudi Arabia needs players like Cristiano or like me, or like others who came here to give them something of what we have in Europe.
"We need to teach the kids here what they need to go to other clubs. It's a country that's opening up. People are polite in their daily interactions. It's a great place for me."
