England boss Thomas Tuchel has sent a clear message to fans as he aims for World Cup glory.

It has now been 60 years of hurt for England, who lifted their only World Cup title in 1966 as they aim to change the narrative this summer.

The Three Lions were drawn into Group L, alongside Croatia, Ghana and Panama in what is a simple set of games on paper for Tuchel’s side who are the favourites to progress.

Tuchel's 26-man England squad arrived in West Palm Beach, Florida this week to acclimatise to the heat and sweltering conditions.

Ahead of their friendly against New Zealand this weekend, Tuchel sent a message to fans as he revealed that he knows exactly what it takes to bring football home.

“The mission, why we are here, is very, very clear. We want to be world champions. We want to put the second star on our shirt. And for me, it’s very important that we just speak about it. Just straight away speak about it. The mission, the target of this mission is clear: second star on our shirt.

“I spoke to a World Cup winner, and he had been in two tournaments, and he said the difference between the quarter-final and the final... it was the same level, the same quality of play.

“But once they arrived as a brotherhood, we were ready to die for each other. It would have been no problem if the camp is two months. So two months, OK? No problem. Guys, let’s do something special.”

The Three Lions face New Zealand on Saturday in Tampa before taking on Costa Rica the following Wednesday in Orlando. With less than two weeks away from their first game, England must start to get in their groove if they are to be ready for the World Cup.
