Beckham was joined by his wife Victoria and his parents Sandra and David at Windsor Castle for the ceremony, which has long been coming for the former Real Madrid star.

The 50-year-old played 115 times for his country and captained the Three Lions for six years between 2000 and 2006. He featured in 3 World Cup’s for England and won two European Championships.

Speaking on his knighthood, Beckham was overjoyed and said he could not be happier with such an award.

"I couldn't be prouder," said Beckham. "People know how patriotic I am - I love my country.

"I've always said how important the monarchy is to my family.

"I'm lucky enough to have travelled around the world and all people want to talk to me about is our monarchy. It makes me proud."

His knighthood also comes after he has worked with humanitarian aid organisation UNICEF since 2005 and even had a fund named in his honour in 2015. He also became an ambassador for the King's Foundation in 2024 and was awarded an OBE by Elizabeth II in 2003 to reward his valuable service.

Beckham’s son Romeo later posted a family photo from the castle with his parents and siblings Cruz and Harper. But there was no sign of eldest child Brooklyn, who reports say has a disjointed relationship with his father.
