Mamelodi Sundowns star Lucas Ribeiro didn’t just win the Goal of the Tournament at the FIFA Club World Cup, he also beat record eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi to claim the prize.

His stunning goal during Sundowns’ thrilling 4-3 loss to Borussia Dortmund was among the 10 nominees shortlisted by FIFA and was ultimately voted the best by fans.

The Brazilian lit up the tournament by picking up the ball from his own half, weaving past defenders with skill and composure, before calmly finishing to give his team an early lead.
