Chelsea have enjoyed a rare week off under Liam Rosenior ahead of the clash, allowing the squad to rest and recover after what has been a hectic season so far.
The Blues dropped points against Leeds United last time out and were prevented from leapfrogging Manchester United into fourth spot.
Manager Liam Rosenior will be hoping to pick up 3 points against relegation candidates Burnley on Saturday afternoon but may struggle in defence with the likes of Filip Jorgensen (other), Marc Cucurella (Thigh) and Levi Colwill (knee) all out.
Rosenior’s assessment on Cucurella was measured. “At the moment he’s not fit. There is an issue with his hamstring.
“I don’t know — I can’t give you a time frame on that at the moment.”
In midfield, Rosenior will have to deal without Dario Luis Essugo (other), Romeo Lavia (thigh) and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (thigh) as the likes of Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Pedro Neto step in for the side.
Speaking on Jamie Gittens, Rosenior admitted that he could be out for several weeks:
“Jamie is looking a little bit more long-term,” Rosenior said. “That’s a real shame for him as, obviously, I’ve not worked with him for too long, but I know about his career and what an outstanding player he is.
“So that’s going to be a big miss for us.”
Is Palmer out?
Finally, even though Cole Palmer missed the 4-0 FA Cup victory over Hull City, he is set to be available. Palmer has scored four goals in his last two top-flight matches, three of them from the penalty spot, and will be aiming to continue that form in front of the home fans.
