Gabriel Martinelli scored a hat-trick whilst an own-goal from Andre Dozzell helped the Gunners beat the Championship side who led briefly in the first half.

The Premier League leaders have been incredible this season and will be eyeing multiple competitions as they storm ahead at the top of the table.

Arsenal have won the FA Cup 14 times and will be focusing on making it 15 as they try to keep momentum going. Merino is hopeful the win proves to be the start of a run that finishes with his side lifting the trophy once again.

"It sounds like a dream," Merino said. "There is still a long way to go. Now we are focusing on the next game that is coming.

“But obviously, we have to have those big goals in our mind. The hunger is there. It’s been there for a long time.

“Sometimes it’s a matter of details, it’s a matter of situations, of minutes, of moments, that doesn’t let you win.

“But the hunger has been there, and you can see it every training session. And it will be there until the end of the season."

Arsenal next face Chelsea in the EFL Cup Semi-Final on Wednesday night, another competition manager Mikel Arteta will belives his side can go all the way and win. Merino says his side must focus as the football calendar heats up.

“We all have to be ready on our toes, because games come thick and fast, and you never know when it’s going to be your time."
