Farke later said, “I mentioned just outside if I could have painted a game day of cup competition, I would have painted exactly in this way today.

“First of all, compliments to Norwich. They were brave today and they also went for it and didn’t make our life easy. We changed today obviously on nine positions and you know my attitude that so much rotation is never healthy normally for the performance of the team.

“We have delivered today with overall a really solid performance. I think you could feel we need 10, 15 minutes to come into the game but after that we played an excellent first half, scored two goals overall.

“I think two goals were also ruled out with VAR in the game. We missed also two or three chances. Overall, you can’t take it for granted when so many players come in and it has nothing to do with the quality of the players but it is always difficult.

“It is easier when you have two or three changes and you can lean a bit on the core bone of a team but nine changes is normally very difficult and for that we have delivered an excellent performance.

“(We got) our foot into the next round, just seven teams apart from us are right now capable to win the FA Cup so it feels good to be in the quarter-finals. It couldn’t be much better today and compliments to my players.”

Asked who he would like to be drawn against in the final eight, Farke added: “If I have one wish free, then definitely a home game!”
