Guardiola’s side are now unbeaten in each of their previous nine matches in all competitions as they face a Chelsea side who grabbed a 1-1 draw against Liverpool last week to end their 6 game losing streak.
Guardiola hoping to break losing streak
Having already won the Carabao Cup, City can bag their second trophy of the season this weekend in what may be Guardiola’s final campaign as City boss.
City are the first team to play in four consecutive FA Cup finals at Wembley Stadium but suffered successive final defeats to Manchester United and Crystal Palace over the last two campaigns. Guardiola hopes that this final can go his way as he aims to complete the double after winning the EFL Cup earlier this season.
"There's excitement, of course. I hope we can do better than the last two times.
"It's new players and it's forgotten. A new game against Chelsea. We are in the final and we have to try to win the trophy."
Does Guardiola deserve a stand at Wembley?
City have been faultless in the FA Cup, winning 21 of their last 23 matches. Guardiola will lead his team to Wembley for a record 24th time, a record he joked should be rewarded.
“I am disappointed they have not made a stand for Pep. Not a lounge or a box. Maybe I have to go 24 more times.
“It is still a special place. I have been many times here. We win, lose, win. It is really good, top. Everything. It is so nice. The pitch is extraordinary hopefully it will be a nice day. Nothing wrong happens with the fans. Hopefully we perform well. They play very well.”
Guardiola, clearly frustrated about questions surrounding his future, also joked that he had signed a new deal which would have been news to City fans' ears.
"I extended the contract with them three more years," he quips, before adding: "Nope."
Is this season a success?
Finally, he was asked if he will consider the season a success after completing the double but failing to catch Arsenal in the Premier League title race.
"It depends on the trophies you lift. Sometimes you lift trophies and the season has been successful.
"Sometimes, you lift and the truth is the season has been really, really bad.
"I said a few weeks ago this season has been good. Really, really good."
