He said: “It was really fantastic, before the match, when we knew they were with us, 9,000 people supporting us from Birmingham. Very fantastic. This is the respect for this competition.

“I know, last year, we achieved the semi-final and they enjoyed it with us in London, but losing, but we got it.

“And for the supporters, it’s important. Of course, for Aston Villa history and the respect for the history of us, winning seven times this trophy.

“We focused the match thinking our trajectory through the season in different competitions, how we are building the team, how we need to get experiences and play matches, showing as well our capacity.

“And we mixed those objectives. Firstly, it’s FA Cup, and secondly, the build of us with different players, with our structure, and individually, you get confidence, feel comfortable, and how we compete, and to win at the end, of course, is the process we are building.

“So, so happy for 9,000 people, they were with us here, for the supporters of us in Birmingham and all the world, and because we are continuing in this competition and because we could add another, more experiences individually and collectively today.”
