Holland defender Maatsen said afterwards: "We feel strong at home. It was a tough game against a decent team. They didn't come here to sit back and had a few chances to score.
"We kept focus and got a clean sheet. We need to stay calm and play passes and dominate the game. The second half was better, and the most important thing was the win at home and the clean sheet.
"Sometimes you get lucky and it goes in. I'm happy for my first Europa League goal."
On Malen's strike, Maatsen added: "He's finisher. Great goal, great penalty. I'm very happy."
