Two incredible strikes from Youri Tielemans and Emi Buendia set Villa on their way before Morgan Rogers put the cherry on top of the cake with a second-half goal.
It was a record-extending fifth Europa League triumph for Unai Emery, but a first for the majority of the Villa squad, with John McGinn finally fulfilling a dream of captaining his side to silverware.
McGinn has been a driving force behind Aston Villa's success since joining the club from Hibernian eight years ago, and especially in Europe, where he's produced five goals and two assists in the competition this term.
An assist for Buendia's curler in the final against Freiburg will be one of the sweetest moments he's witnessed, and he's now the "proudest man alive" after ending the Villans 30-year wait for a major trophy.
"Wow.. no words to describe how I’m feeling right now. What a journey we have been on together and now again we can call Aston Villa EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS!!" McGinn exclaimed.
"I never in my wildest dreams thought I would play for a club the size of Villa but to help lead them to a major European trophy makes me the proudest guy alive!! UP THE VILLA."
Once he eventually hangs up his boots, he will go down as an Aston Villa legend for captaining his club to sliverware, if he isn't already.
